The selected fellows are assigned projects at places such as MP's office, Municipal Corporation, Government Departments, a policy researcher, bureaucracy and similar avenues. Each fellow is provided with a mentor who will guide them during the program. The VIF fellow will also receive a handsome monthly stipend ranging from  Rs.35000 to Rs 40,000 to support their endeavour.
