My personal experience with National Scholarship Portal

My story

As an ST candidate, I was eligible for a lot of scholarships provided by Government. But the procedure for applying for these scholarships was too complicated and time-consuming. When I was in 10th and 12th I missed the deadlines of the scholarships as the information was not properly available. According to  one scholarship scheme in my college, a 1st year ST student can apply for a laptop. As I was not able to afford it so getting a laptop in 1st year was like a dream come true. But that scholarship was only available if you provide proper documents from your home state government. And being from Uttarakhand and studying in Maharashtra that was a very lengthy and troublesome task. I  faced a lot of problems just to produce proper documents. Even after having all the documents I had to go through a lot of difficulties to submit them. I had to post some documents and fax some and even some original documents were also required.

It took me almost 2 months to just apply. And another half to get a reply that my documents were not proper. So I am not registered for the scholarship. That was very depressing for me as I did all that I can do to get a Laptop, but just because of so hectic and confusing procedure I couldn’t get one.

So recently I came across an online government platform solely for the purpose of providing all the details of  scholarships offered by the central or state government on National Scholarships Portal.
