1. INSPIRE Fellowship programme for pursuing Doctoral Research in Science& Technology-2015

INSPIRE fellowship aims at enhancing research fellowships for doctoral studies and opening up partnerships with the private sector for topping the Government’s efforts in nurturing talents for scientific research. This scheme is applicable to Basic and Applied sciences as well as Medicine, Agriculture etc. with the provision of multiple entries. The fellowship will be offered to (1) University 1st Ranker in a particular subject at PG level examination in Basic and Applied Science courses as well as (2) INSPIRE scholar, who have secured aggregate marks of 65 % are above at the 2 years MSc or 5 years Integrated MSc/MS.

2. National Post-doctoral Fellowship N-PDF

The SERB-National Post Doctoral Fellowship ( N-PDF) is aimed to identify motivated young researchers and provide them support for doing research in frontier areas of science and engineering. The fellows will work under a mentor, and it is hoped that this training will provide them a platform to develop as an independent researcher.

The fellowship is for young researchers who have already received their Ph.D. /M.D. /M.S.  in last 2 years or have submitted their thesis and are about to get their degree in Science or Engineering; or any area of medicine.

The fellowship amount will be Rs. 55000/- per month (consolidated) and  Rs. 35,000/ p.m for candidates who have submitted the thesis but degree not yet awarded. Apart from this, the research fellow is also entitled to receive Rs.200000/- as research grant per annum and Rs.100000/- as overheads per annum.

3. NCERT Doctoral Fellowship-2015

The NCERT Doctoral Fellowships are intended to enable young scholars to pursue doctoral research in education and other related disciplines. Doctoral Fellows can pursue their work in a recognized university/research institution of their choice. The NCERT encourages original thinking in the conceptualization of the problem and use of the innovative methodology in the conduct of the research related to school education.

4. Prime minister fellowship scheme for Doctoral Research

The scheme supports aspiring Ph.D. scholars with double scholarship (up to a maximum Rs. 8.7 lakh per annum, which is slated to increase further soon). 50% of the scholarship is provided by the government and balance 50% by a sponsoring industry, for doing research for four years and the research fellow receives Ph.D. degree by doing this industrial research. The maximum duration of the fellowship is 4 years.

5. IITM – Summer Fellowship Program

The IITM – Summer Fellowship Programme of two months with stipend is designed to enhance awareness and interest in high-quality academic research among young Engineering, Management, Sciences and Humanities students through a goal oriented summer mini-project undertaken at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.
Period of the Project: Duration of the programme may commence from 16th May 2016 to 15th July 2016. (Schedule may be flexible to suit student’s convenience.)
Stipend: A sum of Rs.5000/- per month will be given as a stipend for a maximum period of 2 months.

SERB Overseas Postdoctoral Fellowship: 2015-16- Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), a Statutory body under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India is launching SERB Overseas Postdoctoral fellowship (SERB-OPDF). The Program aims to build national capacity in frontier areas of Science and Engineering, which are of interest to India by providing postdoctoral fellowship for a period of one year extendable to one more year subject to good performance. The applicant should have completed Ph.D. degree in science and engineering not earlier than the preceding two years from recognized institutions in India. For researchers who are in regular employment, the 2 years period may be relaxed.
