About

Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students provides financial support to meritorious students belonging to minority communities such as Muslim, Christain, Buddhist, Jains, Sikhs & Parsis to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses. During the financial year, 2017-18 Minority Affairs Ministry plans to award 600000 fresh scholarship to minority students in states and UTs. Out of the total number of scholarships 30% will be reserved for girl students of each minority community in a state or UT.

The scholarship will be awarded for pursuing technical/professional courses such as Engineering, Medical, Architecture, Management, Fashion Technology, Pharmacy, Hotel Management, MCA, BCA, CA, Law etc from recognised institution located in India. The minority scholarship is renewable one and the continuation of scholarship in subsequent years will depend on the satisfactory performance of a student in the preceding academic year.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for merit-cum-means based scholarship for minority students:

  • Minority students who get admission in college or university for professional/technical courses on the basis of competitive examination are eligible to apply for this scholarship
  • Student must have score atleast 50% marks at HSC/Graduation level
  • The annual income of the beneficiary from all sources should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lacs
  • The scholarship holder under this scheme will not be able to avail any other scholarship/financial assistance from any other source

Other conditions for scholarship:
i) Financial assistance will be given to pursue graduate level or post graduate level technical and professional courses from a recognized institution.
ii)Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will depend on successful completion of the course during the preceding year.

Scholarship Amount Details

The Merit cum means Scholarship for Minority Students offers following type of financial assistance for hosteler and day scholar

Procedure

Merit cum means scholarship scheme for minority students  is managed through National Scholarship Portal (NSP), hence it is mandatory for all students to apply online through this portal

  • The applicant needs to register themselves on the NSP 
  • Click on the apply link of the site to register yourself on the site. If you are already registered with NSP then just click on login to apply tab to access the online application form
  • Fill in the application form upload the necessary documents and submit the form

List of documents to be scanned & uploaded while fillling form:
a)Student Photo. (Mandatory)
b) Institution Verification Form. (Mandatory)
c) Self declaration of Income Certificate by the student. (Mandatory)
d) Self declaration of community by the student. (Mandatory)
e) In case of Fresh: Self Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Academic Mark sheet’ as filled in Form. (Mandatory)
f) In case of Renewal: Self-Attested Certificate of Previous Year Marksheet as filled in the Form. (Mandatory)
g) Fee Receipt of current course year. (Mandatory)
h) Proof of Bank Account in the name of student. (Mandatory)
i) Aadhaar Card (optional)
j) Residential Certificate. (Mandatory)
