Lady Tata Memorial Trust (LTMT) instituted  "Young Researcher Award-2017"  to recognize and reward young Indian scientists below 40 years having an outstanding track record in Biological Science, Medical Science or Biotechnology related areas.  The applicant must show a keen curiosity, passion and commitment to undertake high-quality research to find out innovative solutions to major problems associated with human disease. The duration of the award will be initially for three years which will be further extended to another two years, on a review by the Expert's Committee of LTMT. The selection of candidate for this  prestigious award will done by LTMT on the basis of personal interview and publications of research articles in medical journals of national repute.




In order to be eligible for Young Research Award-2017 the applicant must satisfy following eligibility criteria:

1.The applicant must be an Indian citizen and his age should be less than 40 years as on 31st March 2017
2.The applicant must possess a valid  Ph.D degree from recognised Indian University in any Biological Science or a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences or an equivalent degree in Biotechnology related areas.
3.The applicant must have minimum 4 years relevant  professional experience in the related field after obtaining degree
4.The applicant must hold a full-time position at University or Research Institution in India and should be engaged in R&D activities at University or Research Institution.
5.The applicant should have research publication to his credit arising from research done in India as an independent researcher.

Scholarship Amount Details
  • Each researcher selected under the Lady Tata Memorial Trust Young Researcher Award-2017 scheme will be entitled to receive monthly award money of Rs.25,000/- in addition to regular salary drawn from the host institute.
  • The young researcher will also receive a contingency grant of Rs.5 lacs per annum for meeting the expenses on consumables, minor equipment, international and domestic travel, manpower and other contingent expenditure incurred while implementing the research project.

  • A money order of Rs.500/- being processing fee(non-refundable) should be forwarded  in favour of  the Lady Tata Memorial Trust, and the original postal receipt of the same should be scanned and forwarded along with the online application form.
  • The  candidate must forward the application through the Director of a recognised Research Institute or Laboratory where he / she proposes to work.
  • The application should be addressed to toThe Secretary, Lady Tata Memorial Trust, Bombay House, 24 Homi Mody Street, Mumbai 400 001, and submitted not later than 15th January 2017
