Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, KVPY, is National on-going fellowship programme in basic sciences started way back in 1991 by department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt. of India to attract and motivate exceptionally high potential students to to take up research career in Science. The basic aim of KVPY is to identify talented students having strong inclination for research and encourage them to pursue career in research.
Every year Department of Science and Technology give advertisement notify about Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana, KVPY by releasing suitable advertisement in all national newspaper on the Second Sunday of July every year and on the Technology Day (May 11).
Any student enrolled in an undergraduate Basic science course (B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Integrated M.Sc./M.S.) can apply for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana.
In order to be eligible for Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana the students must satisfy following conditions:
1.Stream SA: Students who have taken admission in 11th Standard (Science Subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and having scored a minimum of 80% (70% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks in MATHS and SCIENCE subjects in 10th Board Exam.
2.Stream SX: Students who have taken admission in 12th standard/(10+2) (Science subjects) during the academic year 2017-18 and aspiring to join an undergraduate course in basic science namely P/C/M/B leading to B.Sc./B.S./B.Stat./B.Math./Integrated M.Sc./M.S. for the academic session 2017-18 provided they have scored at least 80%(70% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks in MATHS and SCIENCE subjects (P/C/M/B) in 10th Board exam and at least 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks in aggregate in SCIENCE subjects (P/C/B) in HSC board exam.
3.Stream SB: Student admitted in the first year of undergraduate course in Basic Sciences namely P/C/M & Biology leading to BSc./B.S./B.Stat/B.Math./Integradted M.Sc./M.S. in the current academic year 2017-18 and having scored minimum 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) aggregate marks in SCIENCE subjects (P/C/M/B) in 12th Board Exam. In the final examination of 1st Year course of B.Sc./B.S./B.Math./B.Stat./Integrated M.Sc./M.S they must have scored at least 60% (50% for SC/ST/PWD) marks before taking up the Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana Fellowship if awarded.

Besides this, each fellow selected under Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)-2016 will be issued an Identity Card so as that they could have free access to National libraries and laboratories on production of the ID Card.

Selection procedure of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)-2017
1.Aptitude Test: After shortlisting of application forms, only those candidates meeting the eligibility criterion will be called for aptitude test to be conducted across the country on Sunday, the 29th October 2017. Students can take the exam in both languages English as well as Hindi.
2.Admit Card: Students may download the admit card for computer based aptitude test from KVPY portal from the second week onwards of October 2017.
3.Interview: Based on the performance of candidate in computer based aptitude test, the short-listed candidates will be asked to appear for a personal interview which will be the last stage of selection procedure of Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY)-2017
